Bayou Boogaloo: Round 2 for G.Chapin Studios

I can’t wait! This weekend is the 6th Annual Bayou Boogaloo in Mid-City…and my second year having a booth in the Art Market! Come say hello, wave like a crazy person, do a jig for me, bring me a mojito, and buy my art!!! (PS: Seriously, if you bring me a mojito I’ll give you a discount!) It’s all about the fun folks…and since the Boogaloo is FREE to attend, it’s the best kind of fun there is!

So, I’ll see you…and all your friends…this weekend, May 21-22 from 11am-7pm! I can’t wait!

For more info visit the Boogaloo’s HOME PAGE or find them on FACEBOOK.

Cheers! -Gabby

Skagit Valley Tulips: Part II

Just a few more shots from the Tulip Festival this year. I have so many photographs full of tantalizing color and texture that it’s taking longer than usual to go through the whole batch. I suppose smaller sets like this one aren’t so bad! I hope you enjoy the beautiful red and purple tulips featured. These particular fields were grown by the Roozengaarde Family, who were the original growers in the area. They have over 2,000 acres of farmland and 1,000 of those are full of tulips each year. They split their crops to allow for rotation and soil recovery, since tulips…at this magnitude…are not grown organically. (This part makes a little sad…but it seems that all the growers keep a healthy level of concern, and therefore management of the process.) Well, enjoy!  ~G.Chapin

Colorado: You steal my heart.

I could seriously get used to the blues here! Colorado boasts some of the best clear skies, day and night. The views extend for miles from the right vantage point and in the evening you’ll see more stars than you knew existed if your vision is regularly clouded by city lights like mine. The beauty and clarity is captivating…not to mention the wildlife I didn’t have the chance to capture! Below are a couple fun shots of some friends that visited…

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival: Preview!

Let’s just let the color speak for itself…after I comment on this one below. I might have sat (had it not been so muddy beneath my feet) and stared for and unknown amount of time, like Buddha pondering the lotus flower in his silent sermon, admiring these two tulips. Engaged.

More…many more…soon.

Happy Birthday Ella: you’re 5!

One of my closest friends here in New Orleans has me photograph her little girl every year around her birthday! This year we ran around Big Lake at City Park, took a ride on the Street Car, and topped off our great day with a frozen treat from Pure Yogurt around the Riverbend area…it really was a great day. Here are just a few images from all the fun…

Germany: The Eagle’s Nest

After two weeks of traversing concrete landscapes a trip through Bavaria was not only exciting…but necessary for my sanity. The day we left Munich to visit the Eagle’s Nest remains one of my favorite memories. Unfortunately, so much time has passed since that I’ve forgotten quite a bit of the education I received while we were there. On the up side…I have visual documentation right here! I remember the view being positively one of the best I’ve ever seen…ever. With Austria and Germany in distance, and the Alps traveling between them…linking them together like brothers…I felt peaceful. The air was cool, crisp and the breeze carried it with unforgiving confidence through dashing rays of sun…I will never forget how I felt when I dangled my legs over the edge of a cliff to the West side of the ridge…the drop was endless.

Cheers!
